Word Embodied: An Uplifting Yoga and Writing Workshop for Renewing Appreciation for Your Body with Melanie Klein & Jennifer Kreatsoulas

What would happen if we practiced yoga and writing together and flowed between the mat and the page? What disempowering self-talk would we release and replace with new, affirming words? What nagging worries might dissolve as we move, breathe, and listen to the voice of intention rather than the inner critic? What brilliant ideas or answers might emerge? And how might you renew your appreciation for your body?

Join Melanie C. Klein, M.A., and Jennifer Kreatsoulas, PhD, for a special yoga and writing workshop and experience what’s possible when we take time out to breathe, move, and express ourselves in empowering and affirming ways. You don’t need to be a “yogi” or a “writer” to experience the magic that happens when we get quiet enough to listen to the words, phrases, and narratives that move our minds and lead us to a greater respect for and appreciation of our bodies. No yoga or writing experience needed. All are welcome.

$65 per person Early Bird Pricing through August 21, 2019 / $75 per person after Aug 21st

An afternoon of self-care and healing!

Yin Yoga, Reiki and Sound Healing for Stress Release & Deep Relaxation

While you relax and unwind in the postures, Reiki Master, Schandua Nelson will provide hands-on reiki treatments to help you release any physical or emotional blockages.  Reiki is a universal, healing energy that is channeled through the palms of the hands towards the body to promote healing and allow you to release that which no longer serves you.   The workshop will conclude with a serenade of crystal bowl sound healing.   Yoga & Reiki & Sound, Oh my!

Dive Intuit: Exploring the intersection of yoga and social change with Molly Lannon Kenny

to Oct 13

Dive Intuit: Exploring the intersection of yoga and social change with Molly Lannon Kenny

Dive Intuit:Exploring the intersection of yoga and social change - Friday, October 11th - Sunday, October 13th! Join any or all of the four workshops. The weekend will build on itself but will also joyfully include those who can only make it for one or two classes.

Join visionary teacher and change-maker Molly Lannon Kenny for this weekend of classes exploring the ways in which our yoga practice - a practice of profound individual transformation - can create real and radical social change.

While Molly is a treasure trove of knowledge and experience in yoga, vedanta and mysticism, these classes will be less didactic and more exploratory. They are guided opportunities to think about our practice in a brand new way, to understand the depth of the yogic tradition and how it can truly guide us in our every day life. You will leave every class challenged, inspired and ever more deeply connected to your own practice and sense of responsibility, while gaining a wealth of new information, terms and perspectives.

Friday, October 11th, 6:30 - 9pm: The path of action, the path of contemplation

We will open the weekend with a lively and loving discussion on the complementary paths of action and contemplation. How does our practice of yoga on the mat, or our meditations on the cushion, truly inspire skillful action? How does our commitment to deep inner searching invite an ever opening mind and heart? How does this "polishing of the mirror" result in our capacity to see things as they are, including our own biases, fears and limitations? And once we see those - how do we transform them into courageous effort on behalf of our community, our country and our world?

Class will include chanting, meditation, discussion and some light movement.

Saturday, October 12th, 2 - 4:30pm: Bodhicitta and bodhisattva - what can we learn from these concepts from the Buddhist tradition

In this class, we will define and unpack these two concepts and see how they might further inform our everyday actions. We will consider how the brahma viharas - or four immeasurables- of Buddhist practice are perfectly reflected in the Yoga Sutras and in the bible, and why these concepts have endured and persisted as perennial wisdom. We will consider them as living admonishments and encourage their practice in our own every day life.

Class will include chanting, meditation, discussion and some light movement.

Saturday, October 12th, 5:30 - 8pm: The power of partnership

This evening will be dedicated to examining the ways in which we create connection and disconnection - in our language, in our actions and reactions, in our teaching and in our listening and learning. We will look at the ways in which we value partnership as well as the ways in which we inadvertently diminish our capacity for authentic conscious relationship. We will consider what the scriptures say about partnership, connection and "othering" and how we might increase our own capacity for discernment, forgiveness and letting go.

Class will include chanting, meditation, discussion and some light movement.

Sunday, October 13th, 12:30 - 3pm: Putting it all together: Creating and committing to practices of self-efficacy and self-inquiry

In this closing class, we will look at specific techniques that allow us to move our yoga practice to an even more seasoned and nuanced level. We will consider how meditation, contemplation, and guided spiritual study help us to build our relationship with divine presence, and how that relationship can help us in turn to speak and act from a place of steadiness, kindness and clarity.

Molly Lannon Kenny is a writer, teacher and therapist, who has spent over thirty years dedicating herself to individual transformation and radical social change. She was the founder of the Samarya Center, the northwest’s first non-profit yoga center devoted to social justice, equity and radical inclusion where she served as spiritual director and visionary for over 15 years. She has been published extensively and is the author of an essay collection called “No Gurus Came Knocking,” focusing on yoga, spirituality and every day life. She is past Vice President of the International Association of Yoga Therapists and has served on the board of Yoga Service Council. She recently graduated from the Living School, a two year program through the Center for Action and Contemplation that focuses on Christian mysticism, headed by Father Richard Rohr, author of the recent best seller “The Universal Christ.” Molly lives full time in Mexico where she leads annual training retreats in Bedside Yoga – Yoga and End of Life Care. She also offers contemplative retreats in Eastern Washington, and personal retreats at her home in Mexico.

Accessible Yoga Training with Amber Karnes

Accessible Yoga is an international advocacy organization focusing on sharing yoga with all. We offer Accessible Yoga Conferences, Trainings, and the Accessible Yoga Network.

The Accessible Yoga Training focuses on how to make the yoga teaching available to everyone, regardless of their level of physical ability. We’ll focus on creating integrated Accessible Yoga classes where all students can practice together. We’ll explore the many ways that yoga practice can be modified to suit students with disabilities, physical challenges, chronic illness, seniors, and anyone who doesn’t feel comfortable in a regular class.

We’ll consider how to make our classes welcoming to everyone, and to approach students in a trauma-informed way. You’ll learn sample Accessible Yoga classes, chair yoga classes and even bed yoga classes. We’ll also look at ways of bringing the yoga teachings and meditation into your classes, and how all of yoga can be used to support health and healing for every body. We’ll also review common medical conditions so that you have a basic understanding of these issues, and review essential concepts of yoga philosophy to build your understanding of the teachings.

Graduates of the program become Accessible Yoga Ambassadors and connect with a network of Accessible Yoga teachers and students around the world. Participants who have completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training will become Certified Accessible Yoga Teachers.

Training will be held Friday - Sunday from 10:30am - 6:30pm daily. To register, click the buttom below which will take you directly to the Accessible Yoga site's registration page.

  • It is essential for a healthy self esteem. Engaging in self care practices demonstrates to you & everyone else that you are valuable.

  • Over work with no self care can actually make you less productive, more disorganized and emotionally depleted as well as lead to a variety of health issues including anxiety, depression, insomnia, heart disease and digestive issues.

  • Smart self-care habits can lessen the toxic effects of stress by improving your mood, boosting energy and enhancing your confidence.

  • Simple, self-care practices help you appreciate and enjoy life in the present moment which boosts your overall sense of happiness and well-being.

Curvy Yoga 101

Yoga is well known for its positive effects on everything from pain management to anxiety to increased flexibility. However, it is often taught with a thin frame in mind, leaving bigger bodied students unsure of how to move with their curvier parts. If you have always wanted to try yoga but thought it was only for thin, able-bodies, or previously attended a yoga class and felt unseen or not given helpful info on how to make space in your practice for your belly, boobs, and booty, then Curvy Yoga 101 is for you!

In this two and a half hour workshop, we will break down the basics of our physical practice, and you will learn to move safely and inclusively with all your bumps and curves. If you are new to yoga, this is a great place to start. If you’re a seasoned practitioner but always felt like your curves were a hurdle you needed to overcome, Curvy Yoga 101 will impact your practice in a profound and insightful way. And if you are a Curvy Yoga regular, this workshop offers an opportunity to fine tune and check in.

Yes, YOU can practice yoga. Join us in this body-positive community, learn skills you can use in any yoga class you want to attend, and learn how yoga is for EVERY body.

Yoga for Low Back Health. A clinic for the active body with Jenn Noble, RYT500.

Have you experienced low back pain, or know someone who has? Do you lead an active lifestyle, and are curious about ways to offset low back stress, so that you can continue to do the things you love? In this two hour workshop we will explore how Yoga can help support low back health through physical practices (asana), as well as mindfulness techniques to increase body awareness. We will discuss a little anatomy, a little philosophy, and move the body mindfully together. You will come away with tools you can use in your everyday life to help keep you strong and centered, so that you can continue to participate in the active lifestyle you love. Jenn is a 500HR Yoga teacher who knows intimately the importance of a healthy low back. In 2009 she sustained a stress fracture in her lower spine which, in turn, led to a condition called Spondylolisthesis. Through the practices of Yoga she has been able to not only manage physical pain and regain mobility, but also change the trajectory of her life. She is deeply passionate about sharing the power of Yoga for healing in a light-hearted, sincere, and accessible manner.
